Vancouver Challenge Cup 2017

Four years ago we kicked around the idea of organizing a new ballroom competiton, and now four years later it has grown into one of the highlight events on the west coast! The Vancouver Challenge Cup is organized with my partners, Clara and Michel, we couldn’t be happier with how well received it has become.  This year’s competition was only a few seats away from being sold out and had dancers come in from BC, Alberta, Washington, California, and even as far away as Quebec!

One of our goals, when we started the Vancouver Challenge Cup, was to produce something for the community and not just an event for seasoned dancers. In doing so, we introduced what we call the social aspect of our event which got everyone on their feet moving and mingling.  From the social mixer dance to the jack and jill and team match competitions, to our bar serving up an amazing assortment of cocktails, there was never a dull moment.

We were also delighted to see many kids come out to compete during our Saturday Daytime session.  It was a cute overload with little ones as young as 6 years old on the floor! I may be a little biased, but place your kids in dance classes! Ballroom teaches them so many life skills that allow your kids to grow up with respect, focus, and a drive to achieve.  Every kid that participated received a gift generously donated by our sponsors.  This year it was water bottles!
