Delta Cup 2016

Big congratulations to George and Wendy Pytlik for producing their second annual Delta Cup DanceSport Competition! From October 7th to 9th, the Kin Village Community center was transformed into the hub of ballroom dance in the Pacific Northwest attracting dancers from all parts of British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State.  This year featured two professional showcases from top couples in American Smooth and International Latin American, as well as a multitude of both Amateur and Pro-Am events throughout the weekend.

A lot of people who are new to dance feel quite intimidated when they watch events like these, but once you get to say hi to the dancers and all involved, you’ll quickly realize how inclusive this community is, and how much support fellow dancers give to each other.  Although the costumes may be fancy, smaller community events like the Delta Cup are the perfect introduction to what ballroom is as you get to see all levels of dance from Newcomer to Open.

During the entire weekend, I volunteered as head marshal making sure couples were organized and didn’t miss their heats.  Even with the busy schedule, I was able to capture a few photos between my volunteer duties at the event.
